As most of you know, I am constantly trying to teach Jolee how to better care for our planet and about the amazing creatures that God has placed on it for us to coexist with.
Jolee has ALWAYS been drawn to water, ALWAYS as well as animals and nature. So I thought, what a better trip than to take her to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo and the Yucatán penisula to explore mayan ruins, build sand castles, swim in cenotes, snorkel with whale sharks, take mud baths, wade among the flamingos, dip our toes in a pink lake, go on a night safari in search of crocodiles and volunteer alongside marine biologists to track nesting sea turtles! Without further ado, I am excited to share that our tickets to Mexico are BOOKED!!!! We are headed to the Riviera Maya and Yucatan Peninsula in June for 9 days full of salty hair, eco lodging, yummy food, wildlife, exploration and learning!
Our itinerary and the details of our trip are all still all up in the air while I try to find the best accommodations and companies/organizations to book with based upon our desires for this particular trip. Once I have everything booked I will share the detailed plan with you all.
Mexico has always had a special place in my heart. From special times of visiting family there, to missions trips with my dad helping the less fortunate and the life changing experience I had there with my husband several years ago when we were able to release baby sea turtles into the ocean, Mexico NEVER disappoints, EVER. I am repeatedly drawn back there year after year because I know I have not even touched the tip of the iceberg in this amazing country and have also looked forward to the day that we would bring Jolee with us to get a glimpse of what this corner of the world has to offer.
I was able to book our tickets on Expedia for only $244 ROUNDTRIP out of Fresno!!! Crazy right!?!?!? I had been watching fares for weeks and they were bouncing around between $389 and $409. The minute I saw them for $244, I snagged them!
We will be renting a car to have more freedom to explore at our own pace. I am looking at properties in Tulum, Akumal and Rio Lagartos for us to stay. If anyone has any suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them! 😀
I am toying with the idea of an Airbnb for half of the trip and hotel for the other . . . we shall see.
Of course I always buy travel insurance because you truly never know when Life will happen. I have not had to use it very many times but the times I did use it, made it worth every single penny paid on the policy and most are extremely cheap so totally worth the peace of mind in my opinion. 😀
