Let’s face it, we have ALL packed a bag full of clothing and shoes for a trip, thinking we would need ALL of it, only to discover that in the end we only wore about 1/4 of it. At $25 each way, per checked bag fee, that is $50 you could have spent on countless other things or experiences during your trip!
I don’t know about you but when I travel to a warm and tropical place I find that I live in three things. 1. a swimsuit 2. a dress and 3. comfy lounge pants. Paired with a good pair of flip flops or sandals and a hat and I am set! Packing just a few staples that can be worn day or night, also helps me to be able to fit everything into one carryon and avoid baggage fees. 😀 I have also found that it is not necessary to pack a shirt and coordinating bottom for every day of the week. Usually 2-3 neutral colored shirts will mix well with any bottoms you have brought along.
For example, say you bring along 1 white shirt, 1 gray shirt and 1 black shirt PLUS 1 pair of denim shorts, 1 khaki pants and 1 black skirt. You can mix and match all of these items then you actually have NINE outfits!!! Throw in your 3 dresses and you’ve packed for nearly 2 weeks with very few items! Add some cute and simple jewelry to dress it up for evening or a sun hat for day wear and you are all set! 😀
Flips Flops/ Sandals
Don’t forget your hat!!!
I hope these fun outfit ideas have helped you minimize your packing while still keeping things cute! 😀 What are your packing staples for tropical destinations?
