Consult with a travel physician, without leaving your home!
Have you ever been SUPER excited about a trip, only to find out that you need travel prophylaxis? Such as malaria pills, altitude sickness pills or anti-diarrheals? The excitement can turn to dread once you realize that your primary care physician has no idea what you actually need for your trip that will protect you adequately for the region(s) you are visiting or even worse, maybe you don’t even have a primary care physician! I have been in this boat about 5 too many times. I found myself paying for a doctor visit, only to be told that she doens’t know exactly which medications I need for where I am going. SO I would leave and spend HOURS doing research online to see exactly which medications I needed to protect me where I was going. Then I would have to return to my doctor and pay ANOTHER co-pay, just to request the medications be called in to a pharmacy.
