Travel insurance is a must!

There was a time in my life, many years ago, when travel insurance felt optional. Today, in 2023, I consider it essential. In fact, it is required for every single one of my group trips.

I first began taking travel insurance seriously in 2014, after I my husband canceled his spot on a trip to Iceland with me due to work reasons. At this time, I still hadn’t committed to purchasing insurance for every trip but this experience definitely brought “life’s curveballs” to my awareness! Up until that point, it had never occurred to me that we wouldn’t go on the trips we had planned. Then COVID hit and it turned the travel world upside down! Travel insurance immediately became mandatory for every trip I planned for myself and for others.

Why is it so important? Simply put, you just never know what life is going to throw your way and why wouldn’t we want to protect our travel investments? We work so hard for our money, putting these hard earned resources at risk just doesn’t seem like a wise choice.

What I’ve learned about travel insurance:

They are NOT all created equally. Did you know that not all travel policies will cover work related incidences, pet emergencies or COVID-19? I also learned this the hard way just this year when I had to cancel my trip to Chile because the vet told me that my fur baby was on her last days of life . . . the day before I was scheduled to depart. I honestly thought my policy would cover such a tragedy, nope! Some police’s DO though!
